August flew by quicker than expected and in that time this person has shown some great improvement while keeping a great attitude. We are happy to announce and congratulate Jason Rubo as the August Paradox Member of the Month!
Jason is a newish members that comes in and puts in the work each time. He has set some great goals and is on his way to hitting each and every one. He has also been great in helping motivate others to enter in their first crossfit competition. We couldn’t be happier to have him as part of the Paradox family.
Here he is acting like muscle ups are difficult…
– Age – 33
– Occupation – I teach STEM to 5th-8th graders. We learn about everything from engineering to robotics!
– Been doing Crossfit for – 1 year
When did you start Crossfit and Why? I started Crossfit just over a year ago. I was looking for a way to push myself physical and mentally and knew from my first wod that Paradox was the place to get me there.
What is one type of movement you love? One movement I HATE are Wallballs. I still, after a year, will miscalculate the catch and take one straight to the face. My favorite movement are probably Muscle Ups since I was so excited when I got my first one a week before the Open this year and was able to do eight of them during it.
Any goals you have set for 2017? I want to hit 400 lbs on my deadlift (currently at 375) and would also like to tie 10 bar muscle ups together (most I have done is 9 so I am super close to this one).
Tell us one fun fact about you? I have four crazy dogs!
How has Crossfit helped you in sports/physical activity/Life? Crossfit has helped me so much with my confidence. It has allowed me to get in the best shape of my life and continue to push my mental breaking point. It has also been a great form of competition in the Rubo household between my wife and I 🙂
If you were left on a desert island. What one food and thing (book, music player phone etc..) would you want to be left? An endless supply of In-N-Out Cheesburgers (No buns…gotta stay Keto) and an IPhone packed with all my music and movies.
