Our November Member of the Month is Dan “Funny Man” Navarro …. Always brings great energy and continues to make us laugh for over a year now. Read Dan’s testimonial below to find out a little more about him.
I started Crossfit back in September of 2013, prior to that I would go to the gym a few times a week but primarily swim, bike or run. I somewhat regularly compete in 5k’s, triathlons, obstacle course races, etc. I enjoy challenging myself but found myself plateauing in each of the races I have been doing. When I saw the Groupon for Crossfit Paradox, I jumped on it seeing that I have been wanting to try CF for a while.
Fast forward to 2014, I decided to take a different approach to my “season” and do less swimming, biking and running, while putting more emphasis in CF. Through Crossfit Paradox’s great coaching and pushing me, I was finally able to run a sub 20 minute 5K for a new PR, as well as PR in both sprint and olympic distance triathlons. Lastly and probably the best test, I competed in a Spartan race where I not only PR’ed, but didn’t falter once on any of the obstacles. I 100% attribute the success of my season to Crossfit Paradox.
My thinking was that I always had to stay light and lean to go faster. This past year proved that theory very wrong. Crossfit Paradox not only helped me PR in all my races this season, but I also got PR’s in multiple lifts. I can truthfully and jokingly say that I am back to my “Fat Dan” weight but with no gut this time and much stronger. Crossfit Paradox has a great culture where everyone (regardless if you know each other or not) motivates one another. The movements we do are technical and can be dangerous under the wrong supervision…I can honestly say that I have never felt unsafe or that the coaches pushed me beyond my true ability.
My time at Crossfit Paradox has had such a great impact on me, both physically and mentally. I am more confident in my abilities in and out of the box, and I can thank Chris, Luke, Vince and the rest of the Crossfit Paradox family for that.
