July has been done, votes are in… We are happy to announce and congratulate Maribel Diaz as the July Paradox Member of the Month!
Maribel is one of our newest members that comes in and gets after every workout. That in itself tells us so much into the type of person she is, the determination she and drive she has. She doesn’t stop till the clock reads 0:00 or she finishes the last rep. She has set goals for the year to become a fitter person and the results are showing while always keeping that smile. We couldn’t be happier or lucky enough to have her as part of the Paradox family.
Here she is smiling after admitting to being awesome…
– Age – 29
– Occupation – High School Spanish Teacher
– Been doing Crossfit for – 4 months
When did you start Crossfit and Why? I started at Crossfit Paradox in April of this year because I had gained a lot of weight and knew I needed to do something about it (not just a quick fix diet). I also knew that instead, I wanted to surround myself with strong and positive people to help keep me motivated and on track for life!
What is one type of movement you love? I HATE burpees!!! BUT, I know that they are crucial in building strength and endurance… I still hate them though!
Any goals you have set for 2017? I have two goals: My first goal is to be able to do at least 1 unmodified push-up. The second is to lose another 30 lbs. (I’ve lost 22 lbs since I started!).
Tell us one fun fact about you? I don’t know that it’s a fun fact but everyone that knows me, knows that the movie Jurassic Park scares me so much that I end up having nightmares every time I watch it! I don’t do dinosaurs lol
How has Crossfit helped you in sports/physical activity/Life? I don’t think that there’s enough space here for me to tell you just how much crossfit has helped me (specifically Crossfit Paradox). However, I will tell you that I’ve never felt so empowered in my life! At times, actually often lol, I feel like quitting because I think that my body is done and can’t do anymore reps of whatever JR came up with in his secret crossfit lab in his basement, but the members and coaches continuously push me and show me how much my body can actually do. I am so thankful for that!
If you were left on a desert island. What one food and thing (book, music player phone etc..) would you want to be left? If I were left on an island I would pick tacos Al Pastor as my food and my item would be bug spray (the kind with DEET lol).
