This month’s member of the month was difficult with so many competitions and personal goals being accomplished. After endless hours of scraping through data and flow charts, Jose De La Torre stood out as October’s Paradox Member of the Month. Jose has not only been killing it when he comes in, but he was simultaneously running miles upon miles training for the Chicago Marathon. He set a goal for 2017 and took it down with authority.
They say it didn’t happen unless there is a picture…well, here it is…
– Age – 31
– Occupation – Process Engineer @ Tyson Foods
– Been doing Crossfit for – 2 years
When did you start Crossfit and Why? I started Crossfit about two years ago. I was looking to get back in shape and I heard a lot of success stories about Crossfit but I didn’t really know what it was. Joining Crossfit Paradox is one of the smartest decisions I have ever made.
What is one type of movement you love? I hate doing Bulgarian Split Squats, it is a challenging movement and I am terrible with stabilizing on one foot. I love doing Wallballs, one of my favorite WODs is Karen
Any goals you have set for 2017? One of my goals this year was to run the Chicago Marathon, which I did!
Tell us one fun fact about you? I use to hate running. I became addicted to running after completing my first 5k which was the Wrigley 5k in April of 2016. The only reason I signed up for the race was because I was told the finish line was on the actual field but that was a lie…
How has Crossfit helped you in sports/physical activity/Life? I am currently the best shape of my life because of Crossfit. I have learned to be comfortable being uncomfortable. It has also taught me to break down large tasks(whether it be projects at work, long WODS in class or long training runs) to smaller more manageable tasks and chip away. I have also met a lot of amazing people at Paradox!!
If you were left on a desert island. What one food and thing (book, music player phone etc..) would you want to be left? Pizza and my bed, only thing better than a good night’s rest is food…
